Armistice Day

The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month marks the signing of the Armistice to signal the end of World War One “The War to end all Wars” on the 11 November 1918.

The occasion is organised by the Mayor’s Office with H.W the Mayor leading the ceremony, this short ceremony takes place at the lobby of Parliament House.

Memorials are found at Parliament House, commemorating the names of those Gibraltarians who lost their lives in the Wars. The two minute silence observed on the day is marked by the firing of a gun by the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, as well as Buglers sounding the last post.

The ceremony is led by H.W the Mayor, with the Guards of Honour, the Royal British Legion and dignitaries attending.
